When my "lawn care specialist" (he cuts grass only) showed up for the first time - in May I believe, I asked him if he could take the time to trim the bushes in the backyard. He kind of blew me off, and said not at that time, but he would get back to them later. I believe I have waited long enough.
Now, I don't pretend to even know the first thing about landscaping, but the "wild" appearance of these bushes, has been driving me to the brink of insanity. They look like alien creatures or something - with the two bushes growing together.
I own an electric hedge trimmer, so I got out the heavy duty extension cord, only to find out it was not long enough. So, I added another...and then another. I actually thought about contacting the fire department and having them on stand-by, in case this project had a bad outcome. Which could have been a good thing, since the fire department is responsible for stealing my 100 foot heavy duty cord a couple of years ago. Buttwipes!
Well, the task is 2/3 accomplished and it doesn't look too bad, if I say so myself. I raked up all the trimmings into a pile to mulch down, and the "wild" look is now gone. There is a third bush (to the left of these and on the other side of chain link fence), but the heat was killing me, so maybe...just maybe I might try tackling it after the sun goes down. I might try begging thedaughter to help possibly. Grr..
Theson sees that the grass cutter is paid, as I am not allowed to cut grass anymore. Just because I had a lousy heart attack (one of 8), resulting in triple bypass - lawn care has become a no-no in my life. Since I enjoy time on my deck...these bushes are a focal point - and they have been driving me nuts. I have now had another shower and I'm trying to cool off. I'm positive I will not accomplish much else today - I'm pooped already.
Enjoy the day all...be back....later......

I've got three chances on the Friday drawing. And yes, I'll share some with you and yours if I win. ;0)
We have the Powerball and someome hit it last week so it's only 25 mil this week. If I make a trip this holiday to Va Beach, I'll play. Excellent job, that wa not bad at all. I need to cut my grass. My riding mower is down now (I need to rebuild the carb) so I am going to have to use the push mower. Uck!
Sorry, guys, none of you are winning Mega Millions. I'm sure the ticket I buy tomorrow will be the one that allows me to retire to Aruba.
I am impressed with your shrub-trimming! Our new place has loads of shrubs that haven't been taken care of in a very long time (the homeowner is a single dad who was finishing his doctorate in Physics... shrubs were low on his list).
Your accomplishment gives me courage that I, too, may trim those shrubs!
