I WOULD BE IN JAIL...POSSIBLY DEATH ROW!!!

In Stone Mountain, Georgia, this man, Roger Stephens, 61, was arrested on Monday and charged with FIRST DEGREE CRUELTY TO CHILDREN. Apparently he found a two year old's crying quite annoying and threatened the child's mother by saying "either you shut her up or I will do it for you!" And that indeed, he did! He smacked this little 2 year old girl in the face four or five times. In court he stated that he later apologized to the mother of the child...WTF?!?! An apology - what good is that? The man left red marks (of course) on the face of an innocent child and he would imagine that an apology is more than enough?

Realistically, crying children sometimes do get on the nerves of others, but most mothers in their innate way, are trying to comfort and appease the child. From everything I have read and seen on the news, there is no assertion that this child was throwing a tantrum of any kind - she may have been hungry, been in pain, or just needed a diaper change. None of these would require a bystander to enter the picture and threaten the mother and child. For chrissakes - WALMARTS are huge stores - walk away moron!!!

Now, I don't know about anyone else, nor do I care...had I been this mother - this fukktard would not have gotten past the first slap - I would have been all over him! Yes, there is no doubt I possibly would be in jail also - but to defend my child - small price to pay.

What the hell was this guy thinking? Nothing has been stated as to whether he had a prior history of violence or was possibly mentally unstable - so what was his problem.

When my kids were quite young, I can remember being in the grocery store with both in the "buggy", and when I would reach up high for an item, they would cover their heads like I was going to flog them. After a while, they seemed to master this - I do believe hoping mommy would be hauled off to jail. But, if they were on a crying jag, I would remove them from the store (which was rare) and deal with whatever issues were the problem.

Just the other day, I was in Walmart and there was one hellacious tantrum being thrown by a young boy, around 4-5 years old I would guess. The mother was yelling and finally ended up "dragging" this child to the front of the store - I would imagine to leave the premises.

Our children manage to play and irritate every nerve we have...but to abuse children is unforgivable. This man is being charged with a felony (Yay!) and being unemployed will remain in jail till his next hearing this coming Tuesday. An apology no way comes close to being the end of this matter. I will be curious as to what punishment he may face...and even if he does get more jail time.

He is definitely very lucky that this incident did not involve my child or grandchild. My mind would have snapped and I would probably end up facing some serious charges in defense of my child. And guess what...I would never think twice - my children and grandchildren are my life and soul. NO ONE BETTER EVER TOUCH THEM in such a manner.

As much as I wanted to at times, I never touched a crying hysterical child.

I said the same thing last night, I'd have slapped the sh*t right out of this sorry fukker. Sorry? It's not really an apology when you do something that you know you should not do in the first place.

I would have been sitting right there in that cell with you. How DARE he?!! Kids are annoying as hell, and I have also left many stores with screaming kids in tow, but to have some stranger come up and lay hands on them??? I would have scratched his eyes out.

Note to others - when you see a kid cranking up a good tantrum in public, go directly to the Mother and compliment her on her patience and remind her they ALL do that. Help her diffuse the situation with a little kindness and compassion.

Now there's a stellar candidate for an anger management class. Few things are more grating than crying kids, but dude, go home and hit yourself on the head with a hammer if you need to lash out at someone.

It would not matter one flying fuck if that child had been throwing kiddy turds, or pissing in the aisle. The asswipe was totally off base, and I can say, as a father, he would have been swallowing some adam's apple, plus a swift kick in the after burner. Yep, jail time for me. Fucker!

That is the angriest, grumpiest, and dour looking mug shots I've ever seen. What a miserable bastard.

Like you, had that been my child or grandchild that some stranger slapped, I would probably be in jail too by the time I was done with this jerk. It's bad enough to hear people yelling at their kids, but this takes the cake. Unforgiveable!

Wow, that's crazy. I don't know what I would have done if that was my child.

Down here, last week, a 10-year-old kid killed his father who was allegedly advancing on the kid with a belt,

Looked like his Mother couldn't slap the ugly out of him.

If someone hit my child the store like that it would be on. Heck the store most likely should just save time and call a coroner instead of the police.
