Realistically, crying children sometimes do get on the nerves of others, but most mothers in their innate way, are trying to comfort and appease the child. From everything I have read and seen on the news, there is no assertion that this child was throwing a tantrum of any kind - she may have been hungry, been in pain, or just needed a diaper change. None of these would require a bystander to enter the picture and threaten the mother and child. For chrissakes - WALMARTS are huge stores - walk away moron!!!
Now, I don't know about anyone else, nor do I care...had I been this mother - this fukktard would not have gotten past the first slap - I would have been all over him! Yes, there is no doubt I possibly would be in jail also - but to defend my child - small price to pay.
What the hell was this guy thinking? Nothing has been stated as to whether he had a prior history of violence or was possibly mentally unstable - so what was his problem.
When my kids were quite young, I can remember being in the grocery store with both in the "buggy", and when I would reach up high for an item, they would cover their heads like I was going to flog them. After a while, they seemed to master this - I do believe hoping mommy would be hauled off to jail. But, if they were on a crying jag, I would remove them from the store (which was rare) and deal with whatever issues were the problem.
Just the other day, I was in Walmart and there was one hellacious tantrum being thrown by a young boy, around 4-5 years old I would guess. The mother was yelling and finally ended up "dragging" this child to the front of the store - I would imagine to leave the premises.
Our children manage to play and irritate every nerve we have...but to abuse children is unforgivable. This man is being charged with a felony (Yay!) and being unemployed will remain in jail till his next hearing this coming Tuesday. An apology no way comes close to being the end of this matter. I will be curious as to what punishment he may face...and even if he does get more jail time.
He is definitely very lucky that this incident did not involve my child or grandchild. My mind would have snapped and I would probably end up facing some serious charges in defense of my child. And guess what...I would never think twice - my children and grandchildren are my life and soul. NO ONE BETTER EVER TOUCH THEM in such a manner.
