YIPPEE!! I DIDN'T CHICKEN OUT...I'M NOT A WUSS...

Up until the very minute we arrived at the Tattoo shop, I was still wavering between a tattoo and a nose piercing. Well, here you can see which way I turned. I'm tickled to death. This old broad is getting her act together...hahaha! The procedure was quick and painless, except for my eyes watering - and now I have this metal booger in my nose for eternity. I know it is not dramatic - rather petite and demure - so unlike me, but I am loving this.

Thedaughter was getting her Phoenix tattoo at the same time. When we found this picture, she texted everyone in the family to get their opinions on whether to go with this tribal phoenix or a dragon...the Phoenix won hands down. The entire procedure was expected to take about 2 hours, but was completed in an hour and twenty minutes. All my kids (adults) and myself have had our tats done at this same shop - the artists are very talented, the establishment is unbelievably sanitary, and they are only one of five in the state of Ohio, OSHA certified.

So that is my big revelation of the day! Sorry Lemmy, it couldn't be more exciting than this. Thedaughter2 called a short while ago and my oldest grandson was in a car accident last night, totalling his vehicle and causing him a lot of bruising and pain - but he is OK. A 16 year old girl turned in front of him, leaving him no room to avoid this accident...so we are all just glad that he is alive and well at this point in time. Replacing his vehicle and stuff will come later.

More clients still calling, so I have to get back to work now...behave and I will return............later............

I MAY HAVE MADE A DECISION.....MAYBE!?!?

I sort of posed the quandary on Facebook...whether to get another tattoo or a nose ring. The votes were about the same for each. Since I have 3 tats already (nothing gaudy or ostentatious), I am leaning towards a NOSE RING. Something like this guy is sporting, may be a little "too much", as it would probably get stuck in my coffee cup and I would have to call 911...then endure the laughter and jokes - all made behind my back probably! Putting on makeup might pose a few problems also. Therefore...this one is OUT!!!

Since I truly love jewelry and sport my good stuff frequently - this one "caught my eye." I'm not quite sure what it is attached to - or if it would just connect with one of the holes I have pierced in my ear (there are six in one ear). But I can see so many downsides to this offering as well. Coordination not being my long suit...I would probably get my tongue caught in it as I try to lick my lips or something. Thegrandson might even try a quick shot at "jump rope", just for shits and giggles.

Having my better judgement kick in...this will be what I actually have done. It is definitely demure and conservative - so very unlike me, but what the hell. I think it will be a trip. My late best friend had her nose pierced at 60 years of age, and she loved it - although her husband wasn't a big fan. I say - go for the gusto. When I was growing up, it seemed like the "old folk" - say late 50's and up - were content with being old. I only knew one lady - in her late 60's, who was a well known artist, who had the nerve to be different. I loved her immensely. She vacationed at nudist colonies several times a year, spent many months at art colonies..wore flamboyant clothing and jewelry - and I LOVED her. My parents were all about "keeping up appearances."

I guess that is my motto today - I keep up my OWN appearance. I will definitely be posting pictures when this piercing has been accomplished - probably the first week of April. I hope I don't have a cold in my nose at the time!!

Have a great evening - it is cold, rainy and dreary here - no sunshine till Friday. Catch y'all......later......

My 3rd and FINAL tattoo...I think !!!!

The rose beneath the butterfly is my newest addition. I discussed having the rose done with my kids and they all said it was a neat idea. There is a method to my madness though...Mom2!

Since I lost my friend in October, I can hardly think of anything else, and above all, we had discussed having roses woven through our butterflies, as we know, tatts are addictive. Mom2 was ecstatic after she got her butterfly in April, and as for me having this one done, it is all for my friend Jean. I had one petal colored red, which signifies my friendship and bond. As I explained to the kids and the artist who did the tatt - this would mean absolutely nothing to anybody but ME.

The funny thing was when we went to get Jean's butterfly, afterwards, when we had the entire staff rolling on the floor laughing...she told Chad (the artist) that she was seriously considering coming back and having him do a BATTLESHIP across her chest. Chad said if she would allow it - he would do it for free. Needless to say, Chad remembered my friend and was very sad to hear that she had passed away. Jean and I left a definite impression wherever we went...maybe not always good, but memorable.

Our big snowfall is all gone now as it has been raining non-stop for 2 days and the temps have been rising steadily. Tomorrow is going to be close to 60 degrees.

I guess theson won't be here for Christmas, as he and Jules will be driving to Florida Christmas Eve. That makes me so sad, because he will be leaving for Egypt Jan. 2nd for heaven knows how long. He was home last year for Christmas, but in India for 2005. I don't see how I can ever allow him to move away and have his own family - toooo traumatic. I may need lots of medication.

So much for now, going to snuggle in and watch TV - football night. Damn New England Patriots - sorry my Boston friends. The Steelers looked like shite for sure. Falcons and Saints tonite.

Stay healthy and TTFN.

...he never ceases to amaze me!

As you can see, my Christmas boxes (for storage) are empty and ready to be carried back to the basement.....

OR ARE THEY???

Upon closer inspection apparently someone has decided to make a home out of one of the empty bins...

Thegrandson has always had an affinity for climbing into boxes, drawers, basically anything small since he was quite small...oh, I forgot, he is 7 years old and still quite small. Darn little troll won't grow. He may gain a pound or two a year and that is it. He finally made it into the 3% percentile on the growth chart - we were ecstatic. His height is fine, but he weighs only 41 pounds. I call him the dwarflet.

As for liking to hide in things, it has always worried me, because if he gets comfortable, he will never make a sound. So we have had to be quite vigilant in watching where or what may look like a comfortable new "rat hole" for him.

Really nothing much to add, just thought this was picture worthy. Getting a new "rose" tattoo in a little while, in memory of my best friend who passed away - MOM2!! Just seems like something I need to do.

Take care, stay healthy and TTFN.

...it's healing - but looks damn good!!!

Mom2 got this beautiful butterfly tattoo on her right ankle and it is healing nicely. And true to her word, it has been four days now, and her husband hasn't seen it yet!!! Amazing! We are now officially the "TATTOOED OLD BROADS!"

We were discussing how painful she thought this was, and she claims it was VERY painful. Now compared to childbirth or having arterial blood gases drawn - the tattoo was nothing - but such a whiner --- each to his own. I still want to see her get the battleship on her chest - she will be the first one on the block if she does.

Her modernization can be endless - to date she has done the following: obtained a myspace site, gotten a more youthful haircut, her nose pierced, and now THE TATTOO!! I am open to suggestions as to any further changes or life alterations to suggest for the future. Maybe a bikini wax!! Now talk about painful. hahahaha

On a somber note - how tragic that one individual had a meltdown of some sort and vented on the students and faculty of Virginia Tech. I remember the sniper in Austin, Texas almost 40 years ago, Kent State, and the psycho at Case Western just a few years ago - but none had as many casualties as today. I am sure it will take severla days for the complete story to be revealed, so all I can think of is the poor parents, who believe that our kids are safe while in college, and now have to grieve for their personal losses. My heart goes out to those parents and family members.

Going to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play basketball against Linsley tonight. You should have seen me try to explain to Mom2, how the Steelers football players were playing basketball. Guess it does sound weird. Oh well, hope Heinz Ward is one of the players or lovable Ben Roethlisberger.

Everyone stay healthy and TTFN. 48 days till we sail away!!

*** STUPID ME - I KNOW HOW TO SPELL "HINES WARD." Must have ketchup on the brain. Thanx Slyght!!!

Mom2 DID IT!!!

Despite the nerves, the jumpy stomach, and potential heart attack - she did it!! She now has a beautiful tattoo on her right ankle (will post a pic later), and to quote Mom2 her husband "will never see it!" The whole procedure lasted about 25 minutes and she didn't even come close to passing out - I am so proud of her. So proud in fact, that I think by next summer she just may get that BATTLESHIP on her chest. I can't say enough about the guys at HOT ROD TATTOO in Martins Ferry. Ohio. To put up with two crazy old broads like us takes guts. When we are together, we create an atmosphere so comical, people sometimes pee their pants. That is why the cruise will be such a blast. I have said it before - we are equal opportunity blasters. We pick on one person as well as we do the next. A merciless pair are we!

Well, gotta run - clients coming to pick up tax returns and have to squeeze in a run to Staples to get last minute supplies. Oh - can't forget tanning session.

EVeryone stay healthy. TTFN - 51 days to the tropics!

...and I do like the solitude!

For a change, I had almost the entire day to myself. Thedaughter had to work 2 - 9 pm and thegrandson is at the babysitters. Ahhhh...total peace and quiet. A few clients came to pick up their tax returns, other than that...a few movies and the computer.

Managed to have at least ONE political discussion with a client, of course that is always invigorating. I should probably run for President, but know I could not garner a war chest over $100.

Theson is still in Ireland and will be returning home Wednesday night. Hopefully tomorrow we will be booking our flight to Florida for our cruise, then I will be completely relaxed and at peace. Our weather this past week has been idyllic, now I hear the intrepid weatherman saying "SNOW" for next weekend. Grrrr...once I get my sandals on - I do not put them away until October. Now my toes will be pissed at me for sure. brrr...

Hopefully there will be some interesting news tidbit or political gaffe I can comment on in the near future. I could probably write a little tidbit about our illustrious LEADER daily - but screw that - I will wait till he makes another major faux pas.

So much for that. Everyone stay healthy - TTFN. 63 days till departure.

P.S. Contemplating getting a tattoo on Thursday - nah!! I'm gonna do it!!!
