When I manage to get out amongst friends and non-familiars, I usually end up in a political debate at some time or another. The thoughts going through my pea-size brain keep returning to "how can some people be so stupid?" The disagreements typically begin with the other party spouting off a Hannity, Ingraham or Beck comment - verbatim, as if that is the solemn truth.

No matter, that I pose the question, "have you listened to any other views in this area?" The response is usually "You don't know what you are talking about!" Depending on my mood at the moment, I usually have a quick retort or I plain old tell them to "get the fuck out of my face!"

Media Matters has been closely monitoring Faux News of late, and this video clip pretty much says it all.



And now, it appears that Bristol Palin is going to be a spokesperson (ambassador) for the Candies Foundation. She will be speaking out against teen pregnancy. I find this a little hypocritical and until she gets her own life in order - is taking the wrong path. Does anyone remember her statements to Greta Van Susteren, that she thinks it is ridiculous for kids to practice "abstinence?"

I say, little girl, straighten out your own life, figure out your future education and also how the baby's father is going to fit into the picture. I personally, feel there is a lot of maneuvering from the Palin family, to disallow Levi Johnston his parental rights. Any father that has the desire to be a major factor in the child's life - is a good apple to me. I've seen to many sperm donors - just run fast and hard - to spread their DNA without responsibility.

No, I do not think young Bristol is the right person for this role.

When this "engagement" was announced, purely out of necessity, I was only one of many, who deemed it a "bad" idea. When I say out of necessity, I mean for good old Sarah Palin to "save face" at the moment.

OMG, now this means that Ann Coulter will have to be totally against her idol Palin - since Tripp will be raised by a single mother - he must be doomed to prison!!! She spouts the statistics - so they MUST be true. (I am chortling - even writing this hogwash.)

Rest assured , I am not against single parenthood - as a forced marriage is doomed to fail for so many reasons. Thedaughter is raising thegrandson without a father in the picture - and they are doing quite well. I honestly do not foresee "prison" in his future. (I'd wring his neck first!) So eat sh*t and die Coulter!!!

I have been working non-stop since 8 am this morning - I figure 14 1/2 hours is enough for today. I must say it was a very productive day at that. Many returns completed, 3 new clients, and one "old" client brought a friend with him this morning, who said he knew me. It turned out to be a very old friend of my husband and me - and I haven't seen him for almost 20 years. It was an interesting visit.

My son's best friend, Chumpass (and son of my late best friend) had back surgery in Columbus today, so I have been worrying about him. I got a text at 2:30pm, from his wife that he was in recovery and everything went well. Relief!! We never stop worrying about the youngins'.

I have been in terrible pain (my hips and legs) and have taken enough Naproxen today for a small army. It has honestly helped a little. I'm going to take 2 more and maybe a Tylenol PM, so I can get some sleep. I'm not a whiner, but this has really been awful the past couple of days. I would imagine my arthritis is flaring in one way or another.

Sorry - Palin is back her old tricks....

I honestly can't get Sarah Palin out of my mind - please - just shoot me now. She makes picking on her so very easy, I just have to go there. For at least five weeks or better, there is an area in western Alaska, that has a small population, but is in serious peril of certain death, during these cold winter months. They have run out of heating fuel and food supplies.

Sarah Palin has been aware of these issues, and has done NOTHING to address them. How could she, when she had to show up at a swanky Washington, D.C., dinner a couple of weeks ago, nurture her new grandson, take charge of the "snow machine" iditarod, blah, blah, blah.

Well, now she is going to venture to that area and show compassion - compassion that has been lacking for weeks. These are HER citizens of the state of Alaska and she has not lifted a finger to see that legislation is initiated or other methods employed to see to these people and their welfare. But Sarah, we are so glad that your daughter doesn't have to rely on the "system" for help with her child. She has YOU to give her what she needs.

This is the press release of today - now Palin is going to go to the AID of these poor folks. But check out who is tagging along...Franklin Graham. What the fuck is he going to do - feed the masses with a couple of fish??? Unless he has truck loads of staples and supplies - I say ignore the photo op!! Palin is also using this as an excuse NOT to attend the Governor's convention - probably to ensure "martyr" publicity.

If the repukes nominate this broad in 2010 - they deserve her - maybe have Limpdick as her running mate!! So read on my friends - I say she is such a phony! Hell, she will even bill all the per diem back to the state no less. If she's smart she will call Greta Van Suscitate to tag along also.

February 19, 2009, Juneau, Alaska - Following up on several trips to Western Alaska by multi-agency state personnel, Governor Sarah Palin and Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will travel with Franklin Graham, President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, to the communities of Marshall and Russian Mission on Friday. Samaritan’s Purse is a nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian aid across the world. Working with private sector and nonprofit resources, an estimated 10,000 pounds of food will be distributed to more than 200 Alaska families in need.

For several weeks the administration has been working with residents on the Lower Yukon in an attempt to identify their eligibility for various aid programs for communities and individuals. Five state departments and the governor’s rural affairs advisor, John Moller, are involved in the immediate relief effort, and are currently visiting communities across the region.

Faith-based, nonprofit groups, such as Samaritan’s Purse, have partnered with state agencies and have been instrumental in providing assistance to Western Alaska in recent weeks. The Department of Public Safety has utilized its aircraft to deliver food collected from around the state by faith-based and other nonprofit organizations. The Department of Public Safety is working with the Department of Education and Early Development personnel in implementing a plan to provide bulk foods to area residents.

Additionally, state benefit specialists from the Department of Health and Social Services visited Emmonak recently and enrolled individuals in several existing public assistance programs. The Department of Fish and Game has expanded the moose-hunting season for residents, and is also reviewing concerns with the commercial king salmon fishery that many Lower Yukon River residents depend on for a substantial portion of their income.

The governor’s trip to Western Alaska, coupled with work on the economic stimulus certification requirements and budget amendments, will prevent her from attending the National Governors Association meeting in Washington, D.C., this weekend.

That is one "pretty" press release. Makes her sound like a real human being - putting her citizens first. Well, I know better, and I should hope the word gets out that she is fooling no one! The people of Alaska realize that this is a press release full of lies, and that their Governor has no qualms about using their plight for her own personal gain.

Well, Bristol Palin has finally given birth. Her son weighted 7 lb 4 oz., and has been named: TRIPP EASTON MITCHELL JOHNSTON. WTF is with all those names??? Anyway, maybe Bristol and the high school drop-out will get married in 2009 - we shall see!! End of newsflash!

Please define "CERTAIN DEATH!"

The news agencies (all of them) have reported on the status of Hurricane Ike - as potentially going to cause "certain death." I am not illiterate nor ignorant, and I actually know what this infers...but does the media??? Really????

CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC and all the other letters, have their reporters in the "hit" area - ready to give us on the spot coverage - AGAIN!! I wonder if "certain death" only applies to a select group, group(s) that DO NOT INCLUDE reporters. After Hanna hit in the Gulf of Mexico last week - and from what I am discerning, Ike will be much harder - I can envision reporters "blowing away" in front of our eyes. I have said before that I am quite the news junkie...but I do so prefer NOT to see death on the screen, from a live reporter.




As this storm progresses northward, it appears we may get some offshoot from winds and rain. (Located near the PA-WV-OH border.) When Hurricane Ivan tore inward on September 17, 2004 - we were inundated with 9" rain in three hours. I had almost 3 feet of water in my basement and lost almost $20,000 in property. My nerves are always on edge when I hear of a big rain or storm coming.




This was my best friend Jean (passed away 10-17-07), helping me clean up the aftermath of basement flooding. We had waaay too much fun - trying to make the best of a bad situation that day (and several days thereafter).

OK, gonna run for now - I have seen short clips of the Palin interview and I'm going to see if I can find a video clip of the entire video. My understanding is that since it is being released in installments, that may be a dim hope. ** Just a note, I was NOT impressed with what I heard so far. She is very mechanical and repeating lines spoon fed to her it appears. We shall see though.

I know I promised, and I tried - but I just can't...

stay away from Political issues. This damn presidential race has me fired up. My low tolerance for stupidity and inane comments is getting the better of me. Just a few things come to mind today:

1. This is new journalistic territory. When Geraldine Ferraro ran as Mondale's VP nominee - her children were raised and she had held a highly respectable political position for quite some time, prior to that nomination. Yes, some of her decisions (political) were questioned, as they should be, but there were no in-depth family type investigations. I do believe the daughter should be off limits (although I think she is being forced into a marriage at too young of an age).

2. It also appears that there is the "double standard" relating to her (Palin) as a parent. I cannot remember any male being questioned as to "how and who will take care of the children." Sen. Rick Santorem has 7 children and I honestly don't believe that question came into play. I do resent this!

3. As to Fred Thompsons' speech last night - I have to admit I love him as an actor, despise him as a politician - he referred to Gov. Sarah Palin as being so popular because she is the executive officer of the largest state in the union. OK - let's get real - it is geographically the largest state, but ranks 48th (see post below) in population. She went after more "pork" than some predecessors and is admittedly in love with the "earmarks" - face it, I would love to live in Alaska and get a royalty check annually because they "cater to/with the big oil companies!!!!!"

4. Ben Stein was interviewed today and he is quite vocal about the stupidity of nominating Palin. This statement just about floored me, because having listened to Stein lately - he would agree with just about anything the Republican party proposed. I was impressed. Then he had to top it off with "I do believe in Intelligent Design too!" Argh!!!!!!

5. OK McCain - I know you were a POW for 5 1/2 years, and yes you were tortured, we empathized with you then and for quite a few years after...but much like a death in the family...life goes on. Thirty five years later, it is the proverbial dead horse.

The McCain team has been locked in a hotel room with Sarah Palin, most of today, working on her speech which may (or may not) over-exemplify her qualifications, so I will be watching this one for sure. Levi Johnson, the "fiance'" of Bristol Palin will be in attendance also.

As for the next 2 months, as Bette Davis once said, "fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride!" I know the Keating scandal will be coming up along with Cynthia McCains drug problems and there will probably be comparable mud thrown Obama's way.

Everyone will have to trudge through the mire and use all the brains and logic you have - so that on November 4th, the right person gets elected.

****Just an observation: I have never seen so many gum chewing people in one place in my life, as the RNC. Has anyone else noticed that the arena is not full to capacity like the DNC and the people SIT a lot at the RNC!!! Whew I really DO need a life.

Thedaughter gets really upset with me, because I constantly have the news channel on, even while running around the house cleaning or whatever. And - knowing how opinionated I am, I think she is wanting me to get on Xanax or something, because I am getting so upset over some of these interviews relating to Sarah Palin, presumptive Republican VP nominee.

Yesterday, primary coverage was on Hurricane Gustav, with break-ins for the truncated version of the opening of the Republican convention. But ALL, and I repeat ALL the republicans were extolling how Palin is far more qualified for the VP position than Obama/Biden. Excuse me...here goes my blood pressure again...I BEG TO DIFFER!!!! Let's see if I can simplify this:

1. Palin has more "executive" experience.
I don't think so...as council person and mayor of a very small town, the "executive" experience is so highly limited. To be honest, a stay-at-home mom, who manages a household has more responsibilities. I know what I am talking about, as I have had my foot in local politics for many years. I was president of the Board of Trustees which oversaw the local utilities and account collections for over 6 years. OH WAIT...THAT MEANS I COULD BE VP!!!

2. She is Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard.
Excuse me, the federal National Guard Bureau established policy and guidelines for the operations of each of the states' National Guard units. Note..the governor commands the Alaska National Guard while it is NOT in active federal service. Her supporters have stated that she personally, sent her Guard into Iraq. That did not happen. I have not found anything cited to state that she has had to "call out" the Guard for any state emergencies since she has been Governor.

3. Women are so excited to have her on the ballot - she will pick up some of the lost female voters.
I believe I have addressed this one...women (most free thinking ones) are insulted to be pigeon holed into this area. I even heard the comment last night from Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, (who never blinks) that women are flocking to Sarah Palin as a BETTER choice than Hillary, because she truly represents ALL women. Wait a minute, I have to go flog myself here...this Congresswoman needs to get out into the real world and speak with REAL women. I loved her comment earlier this month to Nancy Pelosi regarding environmental issues: "We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet - we didn't need Nancy Pelosi to do that!" Argh!!!!

Being described as a "uniter & reformer" I beg to ask the question...of what? If she is going to unite the Republican party, more power to her. As to reform...I see her setting women back a hundred years. I do not want my "choice" taken away and dictated by a certain party or a group of men. I prefer the word EQUALITY. I want to see equal pay for women and as it goes - equal rights across the board.

I find it ludicrous that the Republican party feels they have cornered the market on "traditional family values" and "morality". I feel these issues should be blanketed rather than party affiliated. It is probably the word "traditional" that throws me for a loop - whose tradition are we speaking of? Who do we allow to dictate the ground rules...and so what, if someone veers away from the norm as long as no one is being hurt - we need to stay out of setting those guidelines for all.

Had these politicians NOT started campaigning over two years ago - we could have more productive conversations and interviews...but the American public is TIRED of it all. This is not a good thing I believe. People have a tendency to make rash decisions when they are fed up and just want the whole process to be over. So, I will try to limit my opinions (I will definitely need drugs) and not upset anyone in the future. At least until the next stupid statement is made.

I think I am getting a headache now...have to do up some dishes and finish some laundry. Oooh, I lucked out and got an appointment to get the dog scalped for tomorrow. I had her clipped in April and it is just now growing back in - and it is all the undergrowth first and I have HAIR everyhwhere. Since she is huge and thinks she is a poodle, she spends very little time outside - I am going to keep her clipped thru the winter. I will see how it works out!

If your kids don't listen...

I am not going to make a big issue on the fact that Bristol Palin, 17 year old daughter of VP nominee Sara Palin - is 5 months pregnant. I can relate to being pregnant at such a young age (I was 18 with my first and unwed) - but my main gripe is that Sarah Palin does not believe in birth control or abortions...and has been preaching ABSTINENCE for quite some time.

Someone missed that class. Can we envision rebellion on the home front?

I wish the young lady all the luck in the world and would hope that a marriage at that young age, while in high school (does not have the odds in her favor) - that the relationship works out positively for all involved.
