NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNER.......PRES. OBAMA!!

Pres. Barack Obama is the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize this year, as announced several hours ago. I have to admit, I'm totally impressed. He is now only one of three sitting presidents to receive this honor, and President Carter also received this prestigious honor over twenty years out of office. (Four presidents in total).

From all reports so far, Pres. Obama received this award after a "unanimous" vote. In his ten months in office so far, I have seen, as much as anyone, the efforts he has made to garner peace, thru the nuclear arms talks, and his many trips abroad - but I must add - the nomination for this award, has to be submitted by February 1st - and at that time, Obama had only been in office for 11 days. I believe that is why most people, presumed he was not entirely "in the running." Apparently these past ten months have made an impact and thrust him to the front of the pack, as it were.

So, from me to our POTUS - CONGRATULATIONS DUDE!! It would appear he is on the right track - and there is no doubt in my mind that he will continue, maybe more aggressively, with his plans for peace abroad.

I have been absent for the past couple of days - due to business. I have ONE client who shows up once every 8 to ten years - to have 8-10 tax returns prepared. I have never figured out what it is with him - and his aversion to filing his returns....but it definitely takes a long time to play "catch up."

He brought milk crate after milk crate of receipts that needed sorted and recorded, so for TWO solid days - I was tied up with all that, and had no motivation to even blog or play my games. Just shoot me now.

I completed his last return, about 4 pm yesterday - and he was headed straight to the mail box - to make the IRS happy once again. I think we had a stack of letters from the IRS that would fill a small box - so at least he should not be receiving those lovely "reminders" again.

My parting words to him were, "I'm getting to old to play this game anymore. I will call you on February 1st - and expect you here with all your information, so you WILL file on time, from this point forward." He said "of course!" Sure he will.

Sitting in this hardback chair from 10 am - 7 pm - HURTS my body. I t doesn't seem so hard during the actual tax return season - but this time...it was killer to my back.

Have a great day, and I shall return....later................

I AM OFFICIALLY....DONE!!!!!

In the 30+ years I have been preparing tax returns, I have always crammed until the very last minute. Working hard, getting signatures and running last minute returns to the post office to hit the midnight deadline.

This year is so completely "out of the norm" for me. The last return was picked up 15 minutes ago and I have no more pending. Whatever will I do with myself tomorrow? The official DEADLINE day.

Originally, I had these last three people scheduled to be picked up tomorrow, but as soon as the news broke that NO post office was staying open to the usual midnight...the clients must have felt the need to "hurry it up" a little. Past tradition held that I worked late, headed to the Post Office and then off for a late Chinese dinner. Now, I have to rethink tomorrow's schedule.

I may just park my ass on the couch (haven't been on it in months) and veg out to TV all day. I certainly don't want to shock my system and jump right into CLEANING! I am considering NOT even answering the telephone. Why would I want to hear from some poor sucker who "forgot" to take care of this necessary evil? Compassion would intercede I'm sure and yes, I would see what I could do to help. But, my fingers are crossed that this doesn't happen.

Now, I'm getting excited about moving all the files back to their rightful sanctuary in the basement, and bringing some sense of order back to this kitchen. An official office would be great, but that would involve adding on to my house.

I am now going to start my "chill" process, so have a good evening and I will definitely return....later..............

UPDATE:
I do believe that those responsible for the theft of theson's electronics, may have been caught. I'm waiting for the police to notify me. The person arrested, so far, is the son of a former co-worker of thedaughter's. (His father is in prison for....theft!!)

EXCELLENT MOVIE....I recommend this.....

Having worked ALL day on returns, thedaughter rented this movie and we decided to make it a movie night. Since this movie was released, thedaughter has been trying to figure out the premise of this film. Her guesswork paid off tonight and she is gloating like a rooster - after all the tears were wiped away.

Theson blogged about this film after he viewed it, and mentioned a few tears on his part also. Will Smith tackles this role with all his dramatic abilities. I won't give the plot away - so that makes it very hard to really tell you WHY you should take the time to see this film. Trust me - you will love the entire movie.

The weather here is about to take a major change. Our local forecasters are calling for a blanket of snow late tomorrow night into early Monday morning. Mother Nature is shaking her finger at us again - but she won't make me put my sandals away. I will suffer the frostbite I may incur...but I will keep my toes exposed. I am not one who goes barefoot, but I detest shoes. So my answer is sandals - and crap, I have probably 30 pair or more - must wear sandals!

I guess I will head to bed now, I'm pooped. I'll definitely return tomorrow. Night...night!

Later...................

I MAY BE ABSENT HERE AND THERE....

Since we are coming down to the wire - tax deadline of April 15th - I am ridiculously busy. I manage to tan at 10 am every morning, and today, decided to up from 10 minutes to fifteen. Let me tell you - BIG MISTAKE!! I have never had a problem with this schedule in the past...but needless to say I came away with sun poisoning and my boobs are BURNED!! OUCH!! I know you were all dying to hear about that (especially theson), but shit happens and I guess today was my day.

I have been working on returns since I got back home and just stopped a short time ago. Now, when the clients show up it is the same old story, "I just didn't realize that it was getting this close," or "am I too late to get my taxes done?" As I have said in prior posts, I very seldom if ever, file extensions. I will work late as necessary to get them all completed. Yes, I am that good! LOL.

So bear with me for the next 2 weeks, as I will be here when possible. I may not get around to commenting, but with Google Reader, I can read everyone's postings.

I will definitely be back tomorrow, as I may have something special to post. (If I don't chicken out!)

Everyone play nice and I will return....later.......

I'M NOT HAPPY...NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!

WTF is up with Google Reader? Is anyone else having problems? I can read through the blogs, and when I want to "mark them as read", I get the message that I am "not signed in." As soon as I sign in - BAM - same message. Google needs to get their head out of their ass and fix this problem. Don't they know I have no patience and could blow like a stick of dynamite?? Do they want a mentally deranged person crawling up their butt to COMPLAIN??

Considering this is a day that everyone and their Aunt Clara, has been bitching, griping and threatening the AIG greedocrats...what more can I say? I am sure we have not heard the end of this debacle. I actually want to see "the best and the brightest" grilled by the Senate and Congressional committees - maybe even see them break a sweat or squirm just a little bit. It definitely will be interesting.

As soon as I ALMOST got caught up today, I had a slew of clients drop off their information. For years, my partner and I had a policy that if returns/info was not in our office by April 1st, we would file extensions. Since I have been on my own (since 1996), I have only had to file one extension. So that means I DO work a lot of hours, but this is what I like to do. Taxes and blogging. Throw in a couple of pots of coffee and all is good with the world.

But now it's time to call it quits for the day. I actually have a headache - too much information and data running through the gray cells. I'm even letting the dinner dishes go till morning. Have a good one all and I'll catch ya.....later......
