THIS MORNING STARTED OFF....DREADFUL !!

This morning just started out LOVELY. Of course I get many phone calls from clients, wanting to make an appointment, drop off information or maybe just a goofy question. When I looked at the caller-id, this is a person I have known for many years and been a client off and on during that time also. She was married to my husbands best friend for maybe 6 or 7 years, but know this...I understand well, why that marriage never lasted.

This woman is now 62 years old, legally blind and her entire life has been her children and grandchildren - one granddaughter she had legal custody of, due to drug addictions/convictions of the parents. Her other mainstay...CHURCH!! She is one of those easily roped in to the spouting of the "way out there" type of ministries. Being one who was always short on money - she gave to these ministries before paying for groceries, taxes or basically any necessities of existence.

Anyway, after the preliminary questions of whether she should file taxes was answered, she wanted to get onto the political situation of our country. She insists we are heading for Armageddon - the BIBLE says it - it is in black and white.

She prefaced all this, by stating that "how can we make it when our President associated with all those terrorists and other radicals." I then filled her in on facts, rather than the BS she has been listening to (trust me - facts mean nothing to her), "but if you read your BIBLE - you will know that Obama is the anti-Christ," she adds emphatically. Here I go - my blood pressure rises and I am trying to figure out how to get off the phone ASAP.

I want to tell her to quit her carping about being broke - that if she paid her bills and tried to exist like most of us - rather than pissing her money away on these fly-by-night religions, she might view things differently - but her mind is a proverbial "brick wall." She knows that I do not believe in the bible - anyone can write a book - and I have also told her before that no one takes care of you, but yourself. Since it is still early in the morning, I prefer not to start the day off by "pissing" someone off - but I am very close at this point.

After more blathering about the religious stuff - I told her a client was at the door to pick up a return. I could tell she never had a clue I was brushing her off - which is good for me.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, but this woman would spend hours droning on and on, over the importance of THAT book in our lives - which I was and am not ready to listen to. Great start to my morning huh???

Which brings me to this...Bill Maher's "Religulous", the documentary which was released recently. It was a very different look into all religions and the contradictions between religions. He examines those that claim to be the "true" religions and controversies that exist on women's acceptance into the upper echelons of these religions (or non-acceptance), and quite a few other aspects.

No matter what one may think of Bill Maher (I for one love him), the movie is interesting - I recommend it highly.

I really have to get to work now - have a great day all, and I'll be back....Later....

Religious beliefs....OFF LIMITS!

I will say it here and now, one thing I would never attack is ones' religious beliefs. It is a courtesy that I wish to be afforded me and definitely respect others in that area. The one statement I will make...it should NOT be an election issue. I believe in separation of Church & State - if only more people would step in line.

It is an unfortunate commentary that religion shapes ones opinion on so many vital matters. For example, birth control. the Catholics, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopalians, on and on - all have varied viewpoints. Please, please, someone come up with another way to address these issues - or ---is there even another way??

Oh, could it be that government has become too intrusive in our lives and lawmaking already? That might be it. This subject can be argued back and forth through eternity - so I will leave it there.

My point...any candidates religious views are Off Limits to this blogger.

It's a MAN'S world... I think NOT!!

Without getting to far out on a religious limb...I found this article so very irritating to my sensibilities of fairness to women (the smarter sex!) I will admit that I am an agnostic, having been baptized Presbyterian, confirmed an Episcopalian and transferring to the Lutheran faith when I married my late husband. I also attended many other faiths during my half century of living, and will also admit that I was fascinated by the diverse beliefs. But, be that as it may, back to this article...I find it very frustrating that again, the Catholic leader and church of Rome wishes to dictate the continued heirarchy of MEN to be the stalwart leaders of their faith (and all faiths apparently), since their translation of the BIBLE states that Jesus only wanted men in leadership positions. GET A GRIP!!!

Without getting into theology and various doctrines...this remains a sexist matter. The Episcopal church has fared quite well with their female bishops, but being one step away to Catholicism, the Pope apparently is quite scared of women penetrating the all male Vatican ranks. I should think there are other major issues that need to be addressed, i.e. molestation (past & present), loss of parishioners and finances, that the issues of dominance should be - HOW DO WE FIX our existing problems???!

Please note this is not a scathing attack on my Catholic friends - just the leaders of said religion. End of discussion!

Off on a tangent I go...gas range drip pans! Now there is a wild subject. I have had my gas range for probably 13-14 years, and the drip pans have taken a beating. I obtained the model and part numbers necessary to order, and then googled various sites for pricing. Kiss my Ass! 2 metal objects (double drips pans) weighing next
to nothing run in price from $28 each to $34. No freaking way!! I will just keep the ugly ones I have. BTW - those prices don't even include shipping and handling.

Theson has posted about his Australian adventure and the pics are great! He looks slimmer and sooooo happy! I haven't talked to him much, but I am not high up on his priority list I know. Again, a mother thing! I have another "hypothetical" post I want to do..but haven't decided how to approach the subject. I will keep thinking on that one!

I don't have to babysit for the next 2 days as thedaughter has days off, so whatever shall I do??? Probably clean some more. If the damn rain and storms would quit - I'd like to cook out too. Life just sucks sometimes.

More later...stay well and TTFN.
