AN AIR CONDITIONER BITES THE DUST!!

Summer has arrived early, and the temps have been in the mid 80's the past few days. I do have whole house air conditioning, but since there are no cold air returns, the upstairs gets quite warm. Therefore, theson and thedaughter have each had window AC units for the past several years.

After we returned from Columbus yesterday, thedaughter went up to her room and immediately realized that the AC unit was NOT working. It was making really scary sounds and no cool air was being released. Not good. I can hear the swearing and madness coming from that room immediately.

I told her we would have to get it out of the window and put thesons unit in - and we will deal with his room when he returns home. Well, for whatever reason, her window does not go up as high as in his room (same size windows), and she starts bitching at me and her friend, who just happens to really help me out when he is here - with "man" things that need done.

Let's put it this way - theson's air conditioner is NOW in thedaughter's window and may never ever, as long as I live - come out of that window again. Jaime got it in, and "tight squeeze" is putting it mildly. The side pull out which fill the width space are in bad shape - but AHA - we have DUCT TAPE!! It may not be pretty, but at least they will be cool.

The now deceased window unit and an old 20" TV are going to wait to be taken somewhere (not sure if landfill will accept) for disposal.

I thought I would have to replace my thermostat, as I could not get the touch pad to "lower" the temp, so AC would kick on. I replaced the batteries, I beat on it (which is what I do well), but no luck. Well, Jaime managed to get that working also. Apparently the batteries I put in were dead - not bad considering they came out of a new pack. Now, he just saved me about $60 on that chore.

Jaimie is going to help me power wash and stain both the front and back decks - which needed it last year, but was overlooked. It definitely has to be done this year.

The holiday weekend begins, and amazingly enough, as much as I would like to just chill here - I have my 18 year old grandson's graduation party this afternoon and a picnic tomorrow. Maybe Monday, I will hide in my bedroom. I think thedaughter works six days this week, so my babysitting will be more than full time.

Gotta run, have to start a pasta salad for tomorrow...so everyone have an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!

Later...................

SLEEPY CHANNEL SURFING...SUCKS!!

Sleep is not a really good friend of mine. Although my body can literally be screaming for sleep, it still becomes a JOB. So as I flip flop from the top of the bed to the bottom, constantly changing positions, I always have the remote in my hand. Let me tell ya...I have rolled over - the remote went flying, hitting the dog in the head, but I scurry out of bed to retrieve my security blanket!

In the early hours of this morning, I landed on the EWTN channel. That would be the "Eternal Word Television Network." Solidly Catholic in all it's formats, but this nincompoop Raymond Arroyo, has a news show and the discussion was all over the Conservative map.

As I tuned in, they were showing a clip of VP Joe Biden, exclaiming that domestic violence is the most heinous crime around. To which Arroyo and his Catholic Bishop cohort jumped in with - "What about abortion?" OK - let me see, the correlation is what? I guess the jerk will take any opening to spew his garbage.

But from that brief topic they jumped into the "torture" discussion. And yes, as good Catholics and citizens of the United States of America, they have no problem with these acts, as they really can't be classified as TORTURE. Their theory is that these young men may have information to keep us safe, so we need to do whatever possible to glean that info. OK - you don't believe in killing the unborn...but it is OK to torture a grown individual, which could possibly lead to death. Oh, I forgot about the Inquisition...it appears to be the same mentality.

I was getting mad at this dialogue, and they were moving on to attack Hillary Clinton, so channel surfing was the best solution. No offense against any Catholics out there, but I have had serious issues with their ideas and precepts for oh so many years.

Breaking News: PA Sen. Arlen Specter is switching from Republican to the Democratic Party!!! I actually thought this was coming, but it definitely makes me happy now. If Minnesota can get off its ass and tell Coleman HE LOST, and Al Franken gets seated....60 Democratic Senators and they become filibuster proof. Woohoo!

Now, they need to confirm Kathleen Sebalious TODAY!! This is unforgivable, as there is a Health emergency at this moment, and that office seat needs leadership A.S.A.P.

I have my outside work finished, as least what I can do so far. I have to paint (treat) the front and back decks, but rain is headed this way this afternoon, and will be hanging around for a few days - so that is out of the question.

After an argument with thedaughter last night - she was upset because she said I was bad-mouthing her on my blog (oops - might have), she put her AC unit in her bedroom window. Of course this didn't happen without a great deal of loud "bad" language, and objects being thrown - but at least she can cool off now.

I'm working on laundry now, so behave and play nice, I will return........later...........

Ahhh...to be buried in a PRINGLE'S can!!!!!

This article on the passing of the inventor of the Pringle's can, is a trip. Now, had I known that this option was available, I might have considered multiple Pringle's cans to have my husbands ashes buried in, as opposed to the $500+ urn I selected. The HIGH cost of funerals has gotten way out of hand anyway, but maybe since I am not a famous individual, they will find a reason as to why I cannot utilize home packaging materials!

We have been having a slight heat wave of late, and I always hesitate turning on the AC, because I also hate to donate to the Public Utilities coffer. I finally caved in yesterday, and of course, the AC unit is not cooling. Last summer, I had to get the unit charged, and the repairman said then that I must have a pinhole leak in the copper tubing somewhere, but he didn't have time to check then. That charge lasted the entire summer cooling season, so I didn't worry anymore. Well, the repairman just left here, $131 richer, and he found TWO cracked places in the tubing and silver soldered the hell out of them, so I should be "good to go" for quite some time.

Today is the last day of school for thegrandson, and it is going to be close to 80 degrees - and he chose to wear sweat pants and a long sleeved shirt. HE IS SOOOO NOT NORMAL! I went through his clothes last week and sorted out all the "cold" weather clothes, and somehow he robbed that pile to get dressed today. I guarantee that after these clothes hit the washing machine - they will disappear for another summer season. This amazes me as he is almost a fashionista, in having matching socks, shirts to pants, etc.

I am also trying to get up the energy and fortitude to tackle the task of cleaning the basement "netherworld." As I have said before - all the "not sure where to put it" items end up in the BASEMENT! Since the AC repairman had to enter that world - I was slightly embarrassed - so I must begin this project.

Well, I have to go pay the grass cutter now and sweep the sidewalks so till later...
Everyone stay well and TTFN.
