RANDOM PICS...AREA BEING FILMED!

Traffic in this little burg has been far worse than anyone was told to expect. there are cops on every street corner, and traffic is being halted in 15 minute intervals - and some people are on the verge of "road rage" I do believe. Small business owners and banks surrounding the area of the train tracks, were assured that their businesses would not be compromised, but some headaches have arisen. The Family Dollar store situated directly by the spot where the "train supposedly derails", has had to close. Hmmmm....interesting.

This arched stone bridge is in the Historical Register due to age and style. the train bridge in the forefront actually "Y's" off the main arch structure.

Although this train track/trestle has not been used in many years, and allowed to overgrow with weeds, it is still a magnificent structure.

This open lot (called the pipe yards) has been allowed to grow over as well, but the film crews have cleared it for their purposes, and my understanding is that the train will "derail" into this lot. There are spots marked with florescent orange paint - so we will see what happens here.

The runaway train will be coming across this steel bridge east to west (right to left), which is an extension of the stone arch bridge.

This is our old toll bridge, which was used in the film Silence of the Lambs. It has been closed since 1991, and that signal,ed the demise of our fair little town. It's not being used in this film.

Big circus like tents have been set up in the baseball fields, just .2 mile from my house, and a dozen tractor trailers have taken over the parking lot to the high school football field. I can't remember the last time there was this much activity in this town.

Chris Pine (from latest Star Trek movie) is staying at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, WV., and filming his part at the present time. Denzel Washington is still filming in the Pittsburgh area and should be here the end of this week or beginning of next week.

Thedaughter and I are going to see if we can get some better pictures later this evening, and I'm sure thegrandson will enjoy that excursion.

Theson sent me an email of his itinerary - and he should arrive home on November 28th. He is going to do some sight-seeing in Jordan (which I am not overly excited about) and then to visit a former co-worker in Spain before coming back to the U.S. I am so looking forward to seeing him - it's been almost 11 months - and I'm a worrying mother to boot.

I'm going to finish up some laundry now....so have a great afternoon.

later....................

I WAS IN PUPPY HEAVEN...U-TURNS ALLOWED!!!

While on vacation in Ocean City, Md., my favorite sport was when we had to actually drive somewhere - MAKING THE U-TURNS!! Everywhere locally, the act of U turns is a legal no-no, and the fines are stiff. Ha! On the Ocean Highway which runs the length of Ocean City (Salisbury also), U turns are legal, and practiced overtly. thedaughter was almost laughing hysterically, when I said all I wanted to do was run the length of the boulevard and just make U-turns. IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH TO MAKE ME HAPPY!

We took one day to head to Assateague, where we were told there was a drive thru zoo, where the animals came to the cars, and also miniature horses. Alas, someone lied to us. It would involve a lot of walking and the first obstacle was a bridge with an 80* incline. I don't think so.
These signs just made me so happy, and they were everywhere. I need to talk to the powers that be, and inform them that there may be a therapeutic benefit to being able to make these turns. Of course, the downside would be the ease with which one could vent even further road rage, I guess. Oh well, not my problem. My road rage consists of verbal phrases rather than any physical confrontations.

I believe we only ran into ONE of these signs. Which upset me greatly, but I adapted.

*******************************

I just downloaded some more pictures taken on the old Sony camera, and these were some activities thegrandson found to be quite fun, on the beach at the Boardwalk.

This wooden fort play structure was closest to the boardwalk, and as you walked north, there were others, a tank, a boat and so on. I believe he managed to play on all of them. My back was killing me just from walking - and he even wanted me to come out and play on these things - so not happening.

This was the gorgeous drive to Assateague, the trees were gorgeous as they draped across the roadway.

POST #700...WOOHOO!! JUST A MISHMASH OF STUFF!!

Apparently last week, Condaleeza Rice was speaking to a group of fourth graders when one child asked about "policies of George Bush." The child and other students were forewarned not to use the word "torture." Jeebus, the fukktard is out of office and out of sight and the "Big Brother" mentality/regime is still in force.

As you note by the title here...this is my 700th post. That's one potload of garbage I've put out. (That would be...inane babble at times.)

So I think I will just add some interesting pictures to this post. Pictures, that have almost grown cobwebs, because they have been begging to make an appearance here, but it never seemed like the right time. So now, right or wrong, a bizarre collection of pictures (from the "archives").

Now, this is ART!!! I love this picture.

I always think of my son, when I run across this cartoon!

Now, this is for Lisa. Since she has the "penis" statistics from around the world - she should know that this mountain guy has illusions (delusions) of grandeur!!

And the Tom Cruise impressionist!!!

So go forth and have a wonderful day...what's left of this gloomy, wet, dreary day! I shall return....later..........

I've been tagged...but this one is short & sweet....

Thank you Nan, I love some of the memes going around and this one is no different.

The rules/commands are as follows:
1. Go to the 4th folder in your computer, where you store your pictures.
2. Pick the 4th picture in that folder.
3. Explain that picture.
4. Tag 4 people to do the same.

OK - this sounds easy...let's just see what picture is in that locale.....

Well, some people might have beautiful landscapes or possibly a sentimental reminder in their picture folder, but this is definitely different.

This is from my folder "Boston 2004", which may be appropriate, as I just returned from my annual visit. This would be an angel yard ornament, for lack of a better description. One that has individual arms, legs, body, etc., and can be placed in various forms. Since I have this impish, sometimes bizarre sense of humor, I decided to turn the cherub into a contortionist.

Now, you will see the painted ceramic dog with sunglasses, sitting atop the angel - yep...another perverse idea of mine. This little ceramic dog, was our "travelocity gnome" of sorts. Wherever my late friend and I travelled, we took pictures of the dog in all kinds of weird sites and positions. I succeeded quite well on this I do believe.

Although, it is not required in this meme, I think I will now add a few pics that I DID take of our travelling DOG.

Travelling Dog - watching his morning cartoons on our Caribbean cruise.

Travelling Dog all ready for his breakfast on balcony of our ship.

Can you find Travelling Dog hiding with the M&M's????

Travelling Dog has no ID - but wants a drink at the ship's poolside bar....duh!?!?

Travelling Dog...spying on us from the safety of a small palm tree.

I know the meme only required the one picture...but consider yourself lucky to have viewed Travelling Dog having the time of his life.

I now tag the following:

Evil Twin's Wife at Glamorous Life of a Hausfrau
Freida Bee, as she has a super sense of humor.
Mnmom at Happy to be From Iowa, because it is cold in Minnesota and she needs something to do...haha!
Wits and Wiggles, just for shits and giggles!!!

I hope you enjoy...I had a blast!! Later...............

Politits following....the refrigerator finder?!?!?!?

Going to Politits site, an interesting, change of pace posting. It really takes my mind off such a shitty day. So here goes:

I have had a magnet fetish since I was quite young, and they work ever so well on a refrigerator. Rather than have something just laid on a table and either blown away or thrown away - if it is important enough - on the refrigerator you go. As you can see, 1) we have the ever present calendar, which tells us where our asses have to be and when. 2) Some cash, waiting for me to open the safe and stash it away, all the wonderful Pittsburgh Steeler "stuff", and of course 3) a place to hang OUR keys for the vehicles. 4) There are Case Western Reserve University magnets, which I picked up when theson was still in college, and my 5) lovely dish towel hanging through the door handle. 6) **Some additional magnets, awaiting another victim are lined up at the top right - above the key holder (sorry).

This would be the "side" of our advertising center, as you enter the kitchen. It is covered rather intensely with 7) pictures of family members and mostly "thegrandson." 8) The picture in the top center, is of me with Mike Ditka (former Chicago Bears coach). 9) The 2 round Steeler magnets, are put on my car during football season (brought in house for safe keeping.) I also have to have a place for writing utensils, nail files, screwdrivers - so 10) I have these magnetic holders - 3 that I count. The plastic bag holder on the right is not attached to the behemoth. 11) The 2 tomahawk magnets near the bottom are in support of the local high school (Big Red Indians.)

Again, we have the 12) "family album" as it were. I have a picture of my twin and I when we were 14 or 15 on the bottom row, various pics of my kids and step kids and grandchildren at the top. My twin sister with a very good friend bottom right. My favorite is when theson held thegrandson for the very first time - the look of fear on his face is priceless. He couldn't love the little guy any more than if he were his own. My husbands family and his grandmother - basically - several generations are represented. I have to mention, I hate white appliances, all mine are black. I will have to remember to make a post of when we first got the black refrigerator and the fear my dog had!!

Amazingly enough, I just decided to rearrange the stuff on the refrigerator last weekend. You know, where you clean the dust bunnies that have been hiding on top - in the back, and in general making it presentable again. This is probably a thrice a year project. As I get older, the time span gets longer in between.

My neighbor friend came down and we commiserated on the front porch for quite awhile, then thegrandson came home from school and we now have all the homework completed. Thedaughter will be home soon and I have fixed a lemon/garlic turkey tenderloin for dinner - and all is well - for now!!

I thank you DCup - for giving me a break from an otherwise shitty day. Actually, kind of fun thing to do.
